A MODIFIED MONTREAL RELAY
The Two Notrump Response to an Opening One Club Bid

3NT RESPONSE TO     The Montreal Relay response of 3NT to an opening bid of 1 is adapted from a Precision call which shows both minors with at least five cards in each suit.  The point-count requirement can be anything agreed to by the partnership, but a suggestion is 10+.

You can use one of several rebids depending on which you and your partner prefer, but a popular method is this:
    Opener's rebid of 4NT:

      Responder can use these rebids:
    • Bid either major to show first-round control in that suit
    • Bid 5NT to show first-round control in both majors
    • Bid 5 to show a minimum hand
(Do not bid your "best" minor - Leave the final decision to partner)
    • Bid 6 with a very good hand
(Again, do not bid your "best" minor - Leave the final decision to partner)

If you prefer, you can use 4NT as 6KCB - Six Keycard Blackwood.
    • 5 -- 0-2 keycards
    • 5 -- 3 keycards
    • 5 -- 4 keycards
    • 5 -- 5 keycards
    • 5N -- 6 keycards
    • 6 -- 6 keycards + One minor suit queen
    • 6 -- 6 keycards + Two minor suit queens
